Spam & blocking

How Doota keeps junk out, and how to allow a good sender or block a bad one for good.

Updated View as Markdown
For humans

Doota sorts obvious junk into a Spam folder so it stays out of your inbox. It errs on the side of keeping mail — a real message misfiled as spam is worse than one piece of junk that slips through — so it’s worth glancing at the Spam folder now and then.

Marking spam

Got something junky in your inbox? Open it and choose Mark spam from the message actions. It moves to Spam, and Doota takes the hint for similar mail.

Moving a message out of Spam does the opposite — it tells Doota that sender is fine, and adds them to your allowed list automatically.

Allowed & blocked senders

For senders you want to decide about once and for all, open Account → Mail and find Allowed & blocked senders:

  • Allow a sender and their mail always skips the Spam folder.
  • Block a sender and their mail always lands in Spam.

You can add a specific address (person@example.com) or a whole domain (@example.com), and remove any entry later.
