# Signatures & contacts

## Your signature

A signature is the sign-off added to the bottom of messages you send. Open
**Account → Mail** and find **Signature**. You can set two:

- **New message** — used when you start a fresh conversation.
- **Replies** — used when you reply. Leave this empty and Doota uses your
  new-message signature on replies too.

If you have more than one address, each gets its own signature. Changes show an
**Unsaved** marker until you save.

## The contact card

Tap a sender's name or avatar at the top of a conversation to open their
**contact card** — a quick who's-this without leaving your mail. It shows:

- their **name**, **address**, and a **Verified** badge when the message passed
sender authentication (see [Is this really from them?](/guide/inbox-and-threads#is-this-really-from-them))
- a little history — **when you first saw them**, **how many messages**, and
  **when you last replied**
- any details you've saved — **phone**, **website**, **email**, **handle**
- other people **“Also at”** the same company, when Doota knows them
- a **Compose** button to start a new message to them

### Details from their signature

When someone's signature includes a phone number or website, Doota can pull it
out and offer it as a **suggestion** — *“Suggested from their signature.”* Tap
**Accept** to keep a suggestion on their card, or ignore it. Nothing is saved
until you accept it, and the reading happens on your side — Doota isn't building
a directory behind your back.
